Oxford Continues Urban Housing Initiative Along Centre Avenue Corridor

Oxford Development Company today announced its next residential project, Coda on Centre, at 5765 Centre Avenue in the East Liberty neighborhood of the City of Pittsburgh. The 172-unit building will offer both furnished and unfurnished studio, 1-and 2-bedroom rental apartments designed to a minimum of LEED Silver standards.

“Our philosophy with multifamily projects is to create communities with individual identities,” said Steve Guy, President and CEO, Oxford Development Company.  “Coda will serve the growing demand for quality housing from nearby hospitals, universities and high-tech companies located in the city’s East End.”

Exterior finishes will consist of a mix of brick veneer, cast stone, and a variety of metal sidings to complement existing buildings in this growing district of the City. Coda is located within walking distance of the Eastside shopping plaza, Target, the Giant Eagle Market District, Whole Foods and local restaurants and shops in the East Liberty / Shadyside area.

Five levels of apartments will be built above structured parking and center around a private courtyard on the second level.  Open to the sky, this vest-pocket terrace will contain several outdoor amenities including lounge seating, a gazebo, grills, and a fire pits.

Designed to LEED® Silver standards, sustainable design and construction elements include water-efficient fixtures and an energy-efficient building envelope. Low-emitting paints, coatings, adhesives and floorings make for improved air quality. Recycled and regionally produced building materials and a building-wide recycling program are also incorporated.

“Oxford’s two most recent urban residential projects were designed to LEED® Silver standards” said Guy, “but when completed both were designated as LEED® Gold. Oxford takes pride in over achieving and being a leader in sustainable development”.

Coda on Centre will provide amenities beneficial to sustainable living and active lifestyles. The residence welcomes pets and features a pet wash room. An in-house fitness center, co-working lounge, game room, communal kitchen, secure bicycle storage, and round-the-clock concierge service top the list of the many community features.

In-unit amenities include washers and dryers, ample storage, and modern kitchens complete with dark wood cabinetry and granite countertops. A number of units will have terraces that open directly to the courtyard while others will offer balconies with views of the urban neighborhood.

McCaffery Interests’ residential management arm, Mi-Apartment Home, will oversee all management aspects of the property including transition from construction into operations, pre-leasing, marketing and resident services.

“We are excited to continue our strategic partnership with Oxford and deepen our commitment to Pittsburgh and this growing market,” said Kimberly Williams, senior director property services, McCaffery Interests. “The development will be a wonderful addition to the East End and offer new housing options for this burgeoning area.”

Coda on Centre is designed by WTW Architects of Pittsburgh with Rycon as general contractor.  Leasing inquiries should be directed to McCaffery Interests at Pre-leasing will begin in November 2017 with occupancy anticipated for March 2018.
